Press Release Issued by the Ministry of Agriculture: National Agriculture Extension Program Reaches more than 19,000 Farmers Across Lebanon
As part of its national strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote sustainable farming practices, the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture continues the implementation of the National Agriculture Extension Program, under the slogan
#Agriculture_Pulse_of_the_Earth_and_Life.
The program represents a cornerstone of the Ministry’s efforts to support farmers, enhance technical knowledge, and promote environmentally responsible agricultural practices. To date, the program has reached 19,802 farmers across all Lebanese regions through a wide range of training and extension activities.
Comprehensive Training Topics
The program addresses key agricultural priorities and challenges through specialized training topics, including:
Farmers Registry
Food Safety
Environmental Agriculture
Olive Cultivation
Water Management
Milk Production
Animal Health
Beekeeping
Rational Use of Pesticides
Field Irrigation Systems
Forest Management and Fire Prevention
Poultry Farming
Activities and Achievements
Within this framework, the Ministry has implemented:
263 orientation and training sessions
31 field visits to farmers
230 trainings for technical staff and trainers
17 educational videos
32 media and awareness sessions
Nationwide Coverage
Training sessions were conducted across all agricultural regions, distributed as follows:
Mount Lebanon: 63 sessions
Nabatieh: 54 sessions
Baalbeck–Hermel: 40 sessions
North Lebanon: 36 sessions
South Lebanon: 24 sessions
Bekaa: 19 sessions
Akkar: 12 sessions
Youth and Gender Participation
The program reflects growing engagement among young farmers, with 11% of participants under the age of 25. Participation rates show 83% male and 17% female involvement, with the Ministry reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the role of youth and women in agriculture.
Toward Sustainable Agriculture
The Ministry of Agriculture emphasizes that the National Agriculture Extension Program is a vital pillar of its agricultural policy, bridging scientific knowledge with field application, supporting farmers’ resilience, improving productivity, and contributing to food security, environmental protection, and sustainable rural development in Lebanon.
